Standing O'Paws Training Academy is a family owned and operated business that has come about from the desire to help dogs stay in their forever homes. Many humans see a young, small, helpless puppy and decide to take them home. But by the time the puppy is 6 months of age, the human is tired of the housebreaking that just isn't happening, the destructive chewing, the jumping, and the pulling. In many of those sad cases, the dogs are turned into a shelter all because the human doesn't want to deal with them anymore. Little do they know that many of those dogs are euthanized simply because there aren't enough homes for all of them to get a second chance. With just a little bit of work in a relatively short amount of time, they would have the obedient, loving, well behaved dog we all wish for.
Standing O'Paws has set out to help those dogs. We want to offer a fun, effective, and affordable dog training program designed to keep dogs in their forever homes. Our obedience training is offered in a traditional class setting of up to 10 dogs or in personalized, private 1 on 1 sessions where we are able to address specific areas of concern and resolve any bad behaviors, often times preventing them from ever starting.
In addition to obedience training we also offer agility to those owners who would like to continue working with their dogs in a fun environment. Agility offers a release for those dogs and owners that just want to get out and enjoy a little fresh air while hanging out with other dog people. Agility is great for releasing pent up energy in your dog and can help put a stop to some undesirable behaviors. Often times dogs get into trouble simply because they are bored. Dogs are not designed to sit on a couch relaxing all day. They want and need challenges. By giving them both the mental and physical stimuli that agility provides, we satisfy a need in our dogs to be able to live more harmoniously with us. While we are not currently a competing club, all of our equipment is made to competing AKC standards.
We can also help those humans that are interested in welcoming a new dog into their household. Whether you have questions about specific breeds, what age might best fit into your house, or you're looking to adopt, we can give you the information that will help you make the right decision.
