Mikito 3
yr. male Akita
Mik was a rescue from
Animal Control. Like all shelter dogs he came with a few issues. Mik
had severe health concerns but once they subsided his new family
found out that Mik was food and object aggressive. It took a lot of
time, consistency, and working with the basic commands to help Mik
over come this obstacles. He became a beloved member of his family.
uPDATE: Mik was diagnosed with cancer in Nov.
2007. He lost his battle in Jan. 2008 at the age of 5 years.
Rocko 10
mo. male Boxer
Rocko is a second chance dog. He began
his training with his foster family in hopes that it would make it
easier to place him. When he began his training he had no concept of
what manners were. He believed he should have a place at the table
too. His foster home had to have a lot of patience in training Rocko.
Because he had no idea what boundaries were, Rocko was admitted into
our "Doggie Boot Camp". Rocko came to stay with s for a couple of
weeks. When he returned to his foster family, they noticed a huge
difference. Instead of a place at the table, ROcko went to his bed.
He no longer charged up the hallway to clear the coffee table. He
used calm movements to walk around the table. ANd even better was
that he stopped pouncing on his humans!
UPDATE: ROcko was placed in his forver
home lesss than 1 month after completing his training with Standing
O'Paws. He now lives at the beach in North Carolina. What a life!!
Sadie 2
yr. female Cocker Spaniel
Sadie was a dog that was in need of a
basic education. Sadie was missing an eye and had arthritis in one
hip. Her handicap never stopped her. She accomplished 15 commands
during her sessions but her favorite continued to be sit. Sadie's
biggest accomplishment was learning how to socialize.
Reese 6
mo. male Chow/German shepard mix
Reese is a rescue dog as well. He just some
basic training as well. But if you ask him it was more for his new
humans. Reese went to a family that ever owned a dog before. He
caught on quickly and helped them with the transition of a living
with a dog. Reese grew to be 82 lbs. of pure joy to his family.
