A well trained dog makes for happy owners. Sooner or later, every dog owner realizes the importance of having a well trained dog. Our goal is to help those owners teach their dogs how to be well behaved members of the community through basic obedience training. Training classes offer the rewards of building an enjoyable relationship between dog and owner as well as having the added benefit of socializing with a group of other dogs and people. Classes are held outdoors in order to work dogs around natural distractions. We believe that for dogs to be consistent you need to train them in every scenario possible.

Class size is limited and must be paid in full prior to the start date of your selected class. All dogs that would like to pay for class on the night of the first class will be placed on a waiting list and will be subject to space availability unless a deposit is paid. All deposits are Non-Refundable.

Please Call (856) 513-0229 to confirm space availability.

We currently offer 2 levels of Obedience training, Basic and Advanced. Basic Training is for any dog over 12 weeks of age and current on vaccinations who are just beginning formal training. Advanced Training is for dogs who have completed the Basic Training or have equivalent skills. Please read class descriptions for more information.

Basic Training Advanced Training
Our STAR Puppy / Basic Training classes are based on the principals of the American Kennel Club's S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Every dog starting out in training needs to begin with the basics. Our basic training is for dogs of any age that are just beginning the training process. Dogs up to 1 year of age are also eligible to earn the A.K.C.'s distinguished S.T.A.R. Puppy medal.

During the 6 weeks of basic training we cover commands such as as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave It, and Side. We also cover walking on a leash and discuss ways to resolve common behavioral issues including Housebreaking, Jumping, Nipping, & Chewing to name a few.

S.T.A.R. Puppy testing is included as part of the curriculum. Those clients interested in STAR Puppy must notify their instructor due to test items being scored through out the 6 weeks of class.

Coming in 2012!!!

Prerequisites:

at least 12 weeks of age & current on age appropriate vaccinations (Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, & Rabies)
Advanced Training continues your dog's education and works towards earning their Canine Good Citizenship. After laying the foundation of the Basic Training course dogs are ready to build more layers in their repertoire.

The Advanced Training is more challenging to both dogs and owners. The commands and handling becomes more difficult with items such as Heel, Return, Wait, and Park It. We work towards getting off leash while preparing dogs to pass their CGC certification. We also work with all 10 items needed to pass the A.K.C.'s Canine Good Citizen test including Grooming and Appearance, Reaction to other Dogs, Reaction to Distractions, Supervised Separation, and 6 more. Dogs must pass
ALL 10 items to earn their Good Citizenship.

C.G.C. testing is
NOT included as part of the curriculum but is available immediately after completion of the 6th class.
Testing fee will be collected at the beginning of the 6th class.

General In
formation For ALL Obedience Clients

  • Classes maybe held outdoors. Please dress appropriately. SNEAKERS ARE REQUIRED for participation. Flip flops and sandals will NOT be allowed  due to safety. This requirement will be strictly enforced.
  • Vaccination records must be provided at or before your first class. We do require all dogs are current on vaccinations based on their age. We require the following vaccinations: Parvo / Distemper / Parainfluenza / Rabies. We highly recommend the following vaccinations: Bordetella / Lyme
  • Owners should come to class with treats, a couple of their dog's favorite toys, and clean up bags in case their dog has to potty.
  • Bring your dog to class on a flat buckle collar and a 4-6 foot leash. Harness are allowed but are not recommended especially if your dealing with pulling while out on walks. Choke chains, pinch/prong collars, and retractable leashes are not allowed in class. Owners will be asked to remove those items prior to gaining access to the training yard. Head collars such as Halti and Gentle Leader are allowed and at times may be recommended for hard to handle dogs.
  • Water will be provided for all dogs. However, if you're dog is picky about water bowls or sharing, please feel free to bring your own from home.
  • Owners are encouraged to bring something to drink but we will have bottled water and Gatorade available for purchase .
  • Due to safety concerns, classes may be cancelled in the event of foul weather (thunder and/or lightening) or poor ground conditions. We will make every attempt to contact you in the event your class is cancelled or postponed. Our normal cancellation notification usually begins with posting on our Facebook page and the home page of this website. We also send out a mass email and text message. If you prefer to be called instead, please let us know. We will make every effort to contact you via phone first. If you have any questions as to whether class will be held, please call us if we fail to contact you. Any cancellation will be posted on this site by 9:00am on the day of your obedience class. If nothing is posted, and you have not received a text or email, class will be on unless weather takes a turn for the worse.
  • Age Requirements K-9: Puppies ~ Due to classes being held outdoors, ALL puppies must be at least 12 weeks of age and have at least 3 sets of puppy shots prior to beginning class. Adult Dogs ~ You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. The oldest dog that we have worked with was over 18 years old. It's never too late to start training. You just have to be more patient and understand what is within your dog's physical ability.
  • Age Requirements HUMANS: Any child under the age of 18 must be accompanied into the training yards by a parent or legal guardian, who is legally responsible for the child and dog, to participate. This adult will be responsible to hold the leash of the dog during class for safety reasons. We can use a double leash method in class. This method consists of connecting 2 leashed to a a dog. The adult holds one and the child holds the other. Children must comply with the instructions of the class instructor or the parent/legal guardian will be asked to step in and handle the dog to continue participation. For children under 18 years of age who come to class but are not actively participating in class, we ask that they sit quietly off to the side and not interfere with class. They are more than welcome to bring items to class such as coloring books or hand held gaming items to keep occupied as long as they do not interfere with class. Everyone has paid to participate in class and deserves to get the most out of class. Children who are disruptive to class will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to re-enter the training yards. Parents are responsible for any damages their children cause to the training yards.
Class sizes are limited. CONTACT US to enroll today.
